Sheaffer Balance 1997- 2003

The original Sheaffer Balance was developed in 1928 and on the eve of its 70th anniversary in 1997 Sheaffer introduced the Balance Limited Edition fountain pen. This commemorative collector’s edition was limited to 6000 pieces worldwide.

The pen features the wide profile of the Balance Lifetime senior size as well as Sheaffer’s patented lever fill system. The luminous celadon green finish is accented with vermilion and ebony highlights. The material is a compression moulded pearlised acrylic which is machined and hand polished to a gloss sheen. The 23 karat gold electroplated clip is engraved with the historic Sheaffer’s logo and a matching single band is inset into the threaded cap. Each pen is custom engraved with the pens serial number and W.A.Sheaffer Pen Co. Fort Madison Iowa Made in U.S.A.

The exclusive Sheaffer nib is a precise reproduction, combines 18 karat gold with a palladium plated chevron and a ruthenium ball tip.
The custom designed presentation case is lined in black satin and accompanied by a uniquely labelled two ounce bottle of skrip ink, blotter papers, full colour collector’s edition owner’s guide and a numbered certificate of authenticity.

A Balance Demonstrator fountain pen was offered to selected Sheaffer dealers, less than 100 pieces of these limited edition pieces were made.

A new Balance collection was introduced in 1998, including seven new finishes, four marbled colours and three classic colours.

The marbled collection of fountain pens came fitted with the 18 karat feather touch nib with palladium plated chevron, the smooth palladium coated channel conducts ink swiftly to the page.The luminous marbled colours are created from a pearlised material, compression moulded and machined, then polished to a high lustre.
Dual bands of 23 karat gold electroplate highlight the marbled colour caps and the vintage style clip is stamps with the Sheaffer’s logo, the writing units of the fountain pens also features a gold electroplate trim ring.
The classic coloured fountain pens are fitted with a monotone 14 karat nib, stamped with the Sheaffer’s lifetime logo.  The moulded resin of the plain coloured classic pens is polished to create a deep gloss.
The cap is fitted with the vintage style clip with a wider single band in 23 karat electroplated gold.

In July of 1998 the Aspen Special Edition Balance pens became available, the beautiful blue, red and golden acrylic was created to resemble the flash of golden leaves against the blue autumn sky.

A Sheaffer Balance fountain pen from the 1930's was the inspiration for this Walt Disney's limited edition, the well used pen was found in Walt Disney's desk in 1970 when his office was being inventoried by Dave Smith of the Walt Disney Archives. The Walt Disney Attractions Merchandise Arts and Collectible Team, in conjunction with the Walt Disney Archives and the Sheaffer Pen Company , issued this commemorative limited edition in 1998. Walt Disney's signature and name are engraved into the pens barrel along with the pens serial number. The pen was fitted with the 14K monotone Lifetime nib and came supplied in a custom red Sheaffer Balance gift box with a spare nib unit.

The Millennium Edition Sheaffer Balance was introduced in 1999, advertised as the perfectly balanced writing instrument designed for the new millennium, in an exclusive finish that recalls the deep tones of shimmering lights of the evening sky.

The compression moulded  marbled blue pearlised acrylic used on the millennium edition contains subtle highlights of indigo and violet, the cap is trimmed with the  23k electroplated  vintage clip and a single broad band engraved with ‘Millennium’. The fountain pen is fitted with the 18K two tone Feather touch nib
A ballpoint pen and rollerball pen were also available, all three modes were available to buy in the normal style premium balance gift box. The fountain pen was also available in a collectable gift set which was accompanied by a specially designed desk clock and a bottle of Sheaffer Skrip ink all presented in a large satin lined custom red gift box

Two Special Edition Balance pens were made for the Florida based office supply company Levenger, the Aspen acrylic trimmed with chrome plate and a new finish for Sheaffer, the Tiger's Eye acrylic trimmed with 23K gold electroplate.
